Windows 7 and the future OS market
Windows 7 leaked. This new Windows version is actually planned for 2009.
It’s time for everyone to admit Windows Vista is a bad OS. Sure it works and all, but it’s still bad. Don’t tell me people couldn’t have come up with something better in 4-5 years’ time. The unofficial Longhorn release with WinFS had some potential, plus it was free of charge. Sadly it was taken down due to legal issues.
I am a Mac and Unix user and I feel sorry for the Vista users. No offence meant, but I urge everyone out there to at least give a try to Ubuntu or Leopard. Explore. See how powerful your computer really is.
Let us return to our subject. I’ve been reading a lot of articles about Windows Vienna or Windows 7 lately. Last time I heard about it was November. If I remember correctly, the developers are making huge core midifications, so this time it’s going to be something special.

According to a post by Windows 7 blogger M. Dikici, the first Milestone isn’t very impressive. The GUI is still very Vista-like (remember the first Longhorn screenshots?).
Personally I am not much of a tester, I prefer polished stuff, so let’s wait for the second release and we will probably see what Microsoft is aiming at. I expect multiple desktops and much much more stuff we see on Linux today.
The only problem is, when it comes out, will Microsoft have something to impress us with or will it just rely on its heavy user base? What do you think?

You want Vista users to try Leopard? Leopard is Vista but with an extra coat of paint. The only people who think Vista is a bad OS is the people who don’t know enough to fully use it.
You seem pretty confident about what you are saying, although I beg to differ:
Mac OS X is much faster and more powerful than Vista. I have never seen a comparison between either Linux or Mac OS X and Vista and that Vista won. WHat are these ‘powerful’ features you’re talking about? Does Vista really do a better job?
Plus, even if what you are saying were true, it’s of no use. Vista’s main market ar enon tech-savvy users
Windows Vista is not a total crap at all. I know that many people hates it (and I found the points why), but let’s wait and see when the services packs are released. Read my Vista article.
John I read your article. Nicely written.
I’m just saying it’s bad, not total crap. In comparison with, for instance Ubuntu, it doesn’t have anything Ubuntu doesn’t, and Ubuntu has a lot more.
Everything they did in the past years of developing has been surpassed by other OSes. It just has some stuff it lacked before. And it’s slow…
Yeah, in way you are right though.
Hi,
I agree that Vista is rubbish (like all windows)
People are waiting for SP1 but already people are having probs with it
Windows will never catch up but they have to much market share to worry, One day though they will be gone for better OS.
Windows 7 is excellent, i’m using that only. But what is the Future OS of Microsoft? i’m excited for the next & new latest OS of MIcrosoft.
