In reply to the below post:
No i wasnt being sarcastic and i also was not saying Ubuntu was uneffected.

"Peter, I assume you’re being sarcastic, since Ubuntu is more or less just repackaged Debian packages and suffers from the same issue. See the full list of vulnerable distros here:
"

I personly use Gentoo over all the other distros. I was simply pointing out a fact that even the best linux distro's can be exploited.

Nothing more nothing less.

Re the Ubuntu protection of its logo.

Ubuntu software is libre and gratis.
Ubuntu the name is not.

Everything that looks like something is everything else. That's the power of your argument, jon. And Ubuntu's only "business" is support. So Microsoft gives support for money: Ubuntu gives support for money. Therefore Microsoft is just like Ubuntu.

I have an advantage. I knew logic already before my college course in it at 17 years old. Sorry to pwn you.

Let me explain in a totally different way now:
The software which we call open source is legally copyrighted so that the distributors can say it is free (and will stay free). It is the software that is free. Anyone can use, lend, copy, rename and sell the Ubuntu software. (assuming they play by the specific rules of the copyright (not quite as libre as you might wish) which include several items that give the next generation of the product and its owners all the power and powers that the previous generation have/had. This is a much more powerful form of Libre using Libre to maintain itself. Libre that does not reproduce all Libre is not libre at all.

The art is not free nor is it part of the Open Source arrangement. It is a product of Canonical which they can give away and yet have no obligation to give to you.

-----------------------------------------------------
PS Do you live on air or take money? Ah, then you are just like Canonical.
