Archlinux is the best advanced linux distro IMHO,I'm into my 2nd month using Linux OS(first 2 distros Fedora and Ubuntu),so I wanted to try something advanced like Gentoo and Archlinux, and I must say Gentoo was a very horrible experience I can't believe I wasted so much time on this distro :sad and even ended up formating my windows hda0 partition to fat32 from ntfs :(.
Installing Archlinux was a rather good experience and I succeded the first try their wiki pages are so well written, right now I'm loving it its fast and with kdemod it looks good.

Is Slackware really a advanced distro ?I thought it was fairly easy to setup and to workaround.

I've tried all three and this is what I've found: Gentoo: Wouldn't install. At all. Fail. Slackware. Couldn't get wireless working in a reasonable amount of time. No section on daemons in the Slackware Book either (whoops...). Arch: Installed easily, runs great, pacman is better then...sliced apt-get...and it's stable. If the mirrors would ALSO have a rolling schedule (instead of all going down at once....) that would be nice, but other than that, it clearly wins all three. Oh, and for Gentoo's sake...If I wanted to spend 90 percent of my time fiddling with my laptop, and 10 percent actually using it, I probably would be using Gentoo. Don't get me wrong, I like all three, but based on my current hardware, it's Arch all the way.

A lot of people ask : why no fedora?

fedora is not an advanced os as described in the article.

The article goes about linux-distro's which you have to configure yourself to get a working system the way you want it. (and that gives a big learning curve)

Fedora is designed to be "plug and play", I mean put the install-medium in, press "install" and get a working desktop without effort.

well, for someone who want to try & test gentoo distro is a better and more quick way to do that:

use sabayon linux ... is a gentoo based livedvd distro who, now, with the bird of entropy binary package manager is growing in to a full and distinct linux distro

I haven't had chance to try any of the distribution yet. But I love Ubuntu, PuppyLinux and Slax.

Thanks
